Day 1

Take flight to Vientiane. Upon your arrival at 14:50 get transferred to your accommodation. You have a afternoon to relax and explore the neigbourhood: Vientane is famous for its French bakeries and massages.

Day 2

We take the morning to explore the most interesting site of Vientiane capital. We start with going to Wat Sisaket and Ho Praket before going to Patuxai (Arch de Triumph), built quite recently in commemoration of those who died during the wars and it is today as the land-mark of Vientiane. Then That Luang, which serves as the main and symbolic stupa in Laos. It’s also our national symbol and recognizable throughout the world, gathering place for national Buddhism ceremony. It’s also the biggest stupa in Laos. After your lunch at the local restaurant it is time to take a van for the journey to Vang Vieng. Upon arrival in Vang Vieng, you will be taken to your accommodation where you will arrive late afternoon. Free time in the evening.

Day 3

We depart from your hotel in Vang Vieng. After 14 km driving transfer to the north of Vang Vieng, we visit the first cave, Tham Xang (Elephant Cave) lies on the opposite banks of the Nam Song. It is an important Buddhist temple and owes its name to a remarkable limestone formation. The nearby Tham Hoi cave (Snail cave) winds its way deep into the mountain. 45 min of exploration through numerous long corridors with wonderful limestone formations. Another cool pool of spring water lies at the mouth of Tham Nam (Water cave), also a good place for a swim.

After a picnic lunch, we trek to the Hmong village of Phathao passing through rice
paddy fields and vegetable gardens. The trip back to Vang Vieng varies according to the level of the Nam Song. Descending the Nam Song by kayak leads us through idyllic scenes of rural life: a unique sight with the limestone mountains in the background.

Day 4

After breakfast, get transfer to Luang Prabang which take around 6-7 hours.
Arrive Luang Prabang in the early afternoon and take the rest of the day visit to the former royal palace which was built between 1904 & 1905. Originally built during the French colonial times as a residence for King Sisavang. This fascinating museum features the original royal chambers, paintings depicting traditional Lao life, a throne room, and four of the old royal cars, including an Easel. At the last point, we climb the Phusi mountain where you can get view of Luang Prabang town and its surroundings.

Day 5

We depart from your accommodation and take a short walk to the monasteries of Wat Xieng Thong which was built by King Sayasettha back in 1565. It is also known as the most beautiful temple in Luang Prabang. We take a boat and begin our cruise along the amazing Mekong which takes us past idyllic scenes of rural riverside life and spectacular scenery until reaching the beautiful Pak Ou Caves which sit amongst the limestone cliffs where the Mekong and Nam Ou rivers
meet. The caves are spilt in two, one named Tham Ting and the other Tham Theung. They are both filled with thousands of Buddha images and statues which have been deposited here over centuries.
In a short distance away from Pak Ou Caves we visit the village of Ban Xang Hai which has for centuries made the clay jars which are used to ferment Lao wine. Nowadays the tradition continues however the village now also specialises in producing a wide range of ‘Lau Lao’ Lao whisky and ‘Lau Hai’ Lao wine. Be sure to try just a little before we head of back down river to Luang Prabang in the late afternoon.

Day 6

We depart from your hotel and after a one hour drive we begin with a visit to the
ethnic Khmu village of Ban Longlao Nung before heading to the nearby Hmong village of Ban Longlao Song. You will be able to observe the lifestyles of these two culturally very different minority groups and see how despite their differences they manage to work together on a day to day basis and even share the same school.
As we continue onwards the trail leads through rice paddys and vegetable fields
before reaching the mountainous forest. Along the way we explore a cave which was used as a bomb shelter by the locals during the second indochina war.
After visiting the cave one more hour of trekking brings us to one of the many springs which feeds Kuang Xi waterfalls, here a beautiful pool full of sacred fish can be seen. After descending from the top of the waterfall we enjoy a Lao style lunch amongst some beautiful views!

The afternoon is spent bathing and relaxing around the turquoise pools below the
waterfall. You can also visit the bear conservation center which is located nearby and home to many bears which have been rescued from illegal farms (optional).
Before returning to Luang Prabang we take a short walk to a nearby Khmu village of Ban Thapene which is home to some of the most beautiful pools of Kuang Xi

Day 7

Transfer to Vientiane in our van (around 10 hours driving).
